The governor flew in on a state helicopter, accompanied by the captial press corps. Little can annoy an exhausted reporter-photographer team more than the sight of fresh, rested competitors "parachuting" into a story. By this third morning, we were a little surly.
The railroad had some vehicles that run on rail tracks available and there was a momentary crush as all the press and gubernatorial aides jammed into the trucks. We mostly fit, and made it to the crash site in record time. It turns out that the governor often vacationed at Whitefish Lake, so he was particularly concerned about the spill.
