These threats were not all hot air; in late February and early March, the "constitutionalists" staged several confrontations; in one instance, they circled the Ravalli County Courthouse in their pickups, sticking the barrels of their guns out the windows. The actions terrified civilian courthouse workers.
By this time, the wire services were starting to pay attention to these bizarre stories coming out of Montana. It was still more than a month before the Oklahoma City federal building was blown up, though.
