Intel gets aggressive about its new networking hub that's being introduced today. It's priced at $99 per port in some configurations. The chipmaker is also boosting Pentium II speeds up to 300 mHz later this quarter, sources told News.com

Hewlett-Packard says its sales in China will increase 50 percent this year.

Space cadets: The remains of Gene Rodenberry and Timothy Leary now mingle with the stars -- their ashes have been launched into space. There's room aboard the next flight in September, if you have plans to send someone off.

AST Research is cutting its workforce 25 percent (that's 1,000 people) after its latest loss report.

Apple's going after workgroups: It's a desktop powerhouse, but Apple has always believed it could also be a success in the server business. Their latest models, a 180-MHz 7350 and a 233-MHz 9650, are both based on the PowerPC 604e processor and run the Mac OS operating system.

Getting started: The high school of Apple's founders have changed in the past few decades, and in a typical California way.

What does your product do? Human Rights Watch launches a stigmatization campaign against companies (including some familiar electronics makers) that make components used in land mines around the world.

All in the family: The Ontario cyberstalker, who ran a family from its home, appears to be a teenage son who boasted about his feats at school. The family has reportedly written a letter to a TV station admitting the boy's culpability.

Smoked out: C|Net's stock value plunged 20 percent Friday apparently because so much money is being devoted to a secret project code named "Gunsmoke."

Mega-correction: That little item Friday about the "AOL4free" trojan horse? It's still dangerous, and will wipe out all the files on your hard disk if you run it. It's just that it's (ahem) 933-bytes, not 933 megabytes. Mega-culpa.
